10800 Zombies

Post by Pater Alf »

A nice retro platform shooter in which you have to kill hordes of zombies (I'm pretty sure you are surprised now). I like the design and the music of "10800 Zombies" very much and the idea of just having limited sight is quite good, because you can never be sure what's going on just a view steps away.

Controls could be a bit tighter (especially when it comes to jumping), but you'll get used to it.

Seldomly (lately) has a game with this blocky graphics surprised me so much in a positive way.
This game surely is a gem. I wanted to play this to the end, but knew that I did not have time at the moment because I am going out the door in half an hour. An amazing game with lots of little details that really makes it great. The option of carrying two weapons by placing one visibly on your back was great. Most games tend to have the main character place a shotgun and a tommygun in his normal-sized pockets out of view for the gamer, but this was really great. Good gameplay, with VERY blocky graphics, and oldschool tunes to back it...

Rule number one in this game. Don't move forward to look for the zombie first. Always assume there is one and shoot everywhere you haven't been! You won't always have a chance to see them before they get you.
This game is a bit in the hard end. There is a place where you're supposedly meant to make a jump as high and far as you can. And that would require Ogmo style hardcore skillz to perform that, because you have to be out to the very last pixel of the floor, and press up twice as quickly as possible.
But it plays really well as a quick arcade game. It can be seen that the developer has used some time to refine it. So it doesn't feel as amateurish as the simple graphics might suggest.
