TypeStriker!!!

Post by eMTe »

Unusual shooter in which you fight enemy waves typing words. Ships appear together with various words and the faster you type them the less damage you get. You have no direct control of the ship and he tries to make evasive moves alone, you just have to watch for ships with words.

Hmm, concept reminds me of a game called "Grammar Nazi" which was made by Kloonigames ("Crayon Physics", "Jimmy Lost His Toilet Paper").

Sounds similar, but the one here is traditional shooter, as traditional as you can only imagine. Instead of pressing space you type words, but other game elements remain in place.

Now where do I find the damned screenshots... :viking:

If it had had consistent difficulty, I have a feeling it would be good. However, not enough different words and the difficulty is more or less random. As in sometimes you get one enemy in 10 seconds, sometimes you get five, for no apparent reason. Also, the power ups dropped are completely random, so soemtimes you get lucky, sometimes not. Plus, the difficulty of the level order is way scrambled. Of course selecting a higher difficulty level makes it a lot more difficult overall.

Btw, you can actually move left and right, using left/right SHIFT or something like that, so you could theoretically control your ship if you weren't busy typing.

Developer: Avatarr (But his site is lost in action...)

Amazingly fun game. Nice concept and lots of action. Level 2 at easiest level already got harder than I could handle.

I got better since then and got to the end of level 3 this time around. There are some hard stuff when you are not a native English speaker.
This game keeps you on your toes all the way. I got a lot of good training playing, but I would say that kids might get a lot more from this than I would, as it has a lot of learning potential (regarding typing - absolutely nothing else).

A very fun game. Gives you the feeling a bit like being the targeting officer on a corvette fighter-ship, plotting in enemies as fast as possible. That feature pulls it up, but otherwise it's not very interesting.
