It's not hard at all. In fact the editor might be the easiest to use editor I ever saw (you can edit stuff and try it out at the same time).

And jayenkai: Thank you again for the new features and updates. I think you do an amazing work with your fast reaction to the player' wishes and ideas!

I will try out the new version when I'm at home and see if I can come up with some more ideas... :)

Sorry that it took me so long to give a feedback...

Fullscreen mode works fine for me. Thank you for that as I really don't like to play most games in windowed mode.

The new level is really nice and I like the mines as well as the keys/gates and the bear as a new opponent. Well done!

With all the stuff included now, I think I will try to create my own level (I mean "real" level as I created some before which were crap) next week.

Can't think of many more things that should be included. Just one more idea: What about dark rooms that will only be lightened if you collected a torch before?

How odd you mention that.. I'd already considered torches really early on.. They were played with for a while, but eventually abandoned!

As good as the scaling is, it's slow. If you then add lighting effects, the whole game grinds to a sluggish bore.. Or at least it does on my "If it works on this, folk'll be happy" testbed.. A celeron!

Or, at least, that's the whole "lighting with a torch" thing.. working out where the torch is, what'll light up, and then pixel-based recolouring.. It all takes its toll pretty quickly, even in such a small resolution. (Such is the drawback of Blitz Basic's Pixel stuff)

The other way to do it is to have a room that's black until you hit a switch, or enter with a torch.. But.. I felt that was cheating.

If I was going to do it, I'd do it properly.

Maybe sometime in the future when we all have 17Ghz machines ;)

Flick through to the level labelled "You - Your Level"
Start

Use mouse to plonk things.. Left MButton = Place, Right button = Remove

Run, jump, shoot as you did before.

IJKL to move a room at a time

Mousewheel (or -/+) to switch the background (Only sticks if you place/remove something)

Once done, F1 will save. (DON'T FORGET TO HIT F1 TO SAVE!!)

Then head into the level directory, rename the file "Author - Level Name.txt" and you can do it all again! (Then, either Open the .txt and copy+paste it's contents into a code box here, or save a bunch into a zip and upload it, and we can all play your levels)

Did I miss something? When I start the level Lara's blue clone appears on screen and starts to follow her own agenda. She shoots very fast and cant collect bonuses.

Bug? Hidden feature? Ghost Lara doesnt appear in levels 3 and 5.

Explanations please. Did I hit some button/entered secret combination of letters??

It's a ghost and I think you unlock it when you complete a level. At first I thought it's a replay of the first time you completed the level, but I was wrong. So I have no idea what the purpose of this feature is... :dontknow:

Yeah, It's meant to be a replay of the level..
..

I might've borked it when I added the machine gun thing..

I don't think you messed it up. I checked it again and it worked fine on most of the levels. Just in level 2 my ghost does extremly confusing things like jumping against walls or shooting in the air over and over again. I don't think I solved the level that way...;)

Is what I discovered at the beginning of level three a bug or hidden area?

As for editor. It's buggy. Barrels dont kill me. Animals too. Keys dont work on door. Also, if you place some elements next to each other (like door and wall) you can sometimes pass them without trouble (program pushes me through them).

Can I create more levels btw?

Meh, there's bound to be a few bugs.. The editor's a.. um.. unique one ;)

And, yeah I've probably buggered up the replay at some point.. You oughta see the code to that! It's a mess!!

And, yeah, in the editor mode, things can't kill you, and you should probably use IJKL to jump about wherever you dumped a key/door, 'cos they pretty much don't work right in editor mode, either.
(mostly because... if you died whilst editing, you'd pretty much lose everything!!)

To make more levels, head into Retroraider Levels and rename You - Your Level.txt to .. anything else..
Stick to the Yourname - Level Name format and everything will be peachy.
Then start again!!

And...
Which area in level 3?

The one at the very beginning. On the right. It reminds me of certain "infinite" puzzle in Wolfenstein. If you know what I talk about it's a hidden area, if you dont it must be a bug that it exists.

Well, I was able to jump over the hole (too wide to jump over under normal circumstances I believe) and found myself in forest area (on the ground, just like at the beginning of 1st level). And so I walked right, screen after screen - no holes, no walls, no enemies and only forest background changing. Did it 100 times and went back only to find myself at the beginning again.

I was unable to jump over this hole again. :D

Maybe bug, but mysteriously fun. ;)

I wonder how you did this. When you said "the area to the right", I tried to jump over the hole for at least a hundred of times. But I fell down every time and finally gave up...
