Squib Ball

Post by Pater Alf »

If it comes to classic games, I can hardly imagine anything more classic than "Pong". Here we have a modern version of that game called "Squib Ball".

And this game surely is fast. I better don't post my scores when I played the first time (even after I turned the speed down to low).

Here is what the developer wrote about "Squib Ball":

"Do you dare to play a different pong game, with a lot of action and speed... where you will have to test your reflections to the maximum?

Squib Ball is based on the classic game of Pong but with lots of modifications and improvements, transforming it in an aggressive and challenging high-speed pong game that is entertained and very addictive at the same time, with several game modes and paddles to choose.

Squib Ball has 3 game modes: The Classic, Squib Mode and Pro-mode (with 3 types of paddles each one with different characteristics, with special shots and movements). You will also be able to choose among several scenarios to play, opponents with different characteristics and strategies depending on the situation in which they are (winning or losing) some of them can be more defensive, others offensive and so on.

You will also be able to play friendly games 1vs1 against the computer or other player in the same PC, 2vs2 team games or the Championship that has several challenges so you can overcome them and win the cup!.

The controls are very customizable as several options of the game... you will also be able to "record" your games and share with other people so they can watch them... The game already includes some pre-recorded games so you can see how each game mode is played!

Squib Ball is a new and different game that at the beginning it could be a little hard to play, but with a little of practice you won't take a lot in becoming a true professional of pong!"

I just read over the license (I do that sort of stuff now) and stumbled on this little sentence:

5. WE DON'T TAKE RESPONSIBILITY OF ANY TYPE OF PSYCHOLOGICAL, PHYSICAL OR MENTAL DAMAGE THAT COULD CAUSE THIS PRODUCT.

- ....
- Shouldn't that be caused BY this product or are they claiming: If we are insane enough to make this game - it is not our fault!

This is definently a game for people with an addiction to speed and adrenaline. MY first games were:
Classic mode: two rounder two minutes each: I lost 165-35 (where I scored most of my points in the second round after getting used to the game)
Squib mode: one-rounder two minutes: 265/0 I think that speaks for itself.

The game is insanely hard but has a charm of its own.

Music is classic 90's techno that makes you feel like doing ecstacy and jumping around in buffalo-shoes. In other words a bit nervewrecking.

Gameplay is fast as hell, and will bring you to your knees in no time. The good thing is that it really takes things by the throat and ask you wether you are going to make this game your new coffeebreak gam, and propably for a very long time, or if you are going to dismiss it as being annoying (at least to you).

First two paragraphs of the license that comes with the game:

"1. 'SQUIB BALL' is Freeware.
2. You are hereby licensed to make as many copies of this software and documentation as you wish; give exact copies of the original version to anyone; and distribute the software and documentation in its unmodified form via electronic means. There is no charge for any of the above."

I would say I am sure... :P

Cant understand this squib mode at all... Any hints how to score 5 points at least?

Also I dont know what rockets are. I know I can use them pressing j, k and l, but this is all I know. Doing this doesnt affect gameplay.
