TrackMania Nations Forever

Post by eMTe »

From official website:

"Launched two years ago, TrackMania Nations became a true video game phenomenon. The free downloadable racing game attracted an unbelievable number of players around the world who were obsessed with the game's fast cars, spectacular tracks single- and multiplayer play and simple yet powerful tools for creating tracks and race videos. For the past two years, it has been installed more than 30 million times and nearly four million players have created an account to play the game online on the game’s servers.

Its highly awaited sequel, TrackMania Nations Forever, is now available as a free download. TrackMania Nations Forever offers a new complete "Forever" version of the Stadium environment, a complete solo mode and 65 brand new, progressively difficult tracks. TrackMania Nations Forever will unite an even larger number of players thanks to its engaging multiplayer modes, innovative online functions and revolutionary interactivity between players.

For TrackMania Nations Forever, Nadeo studio chose to take advantage of the PC's capacities as a gaming, creative and communications platform in order to allow a greater number of players to share a unique gaming experience."

I got bored with this, but came back. Impressive, how quickly number of players grows. I was once somewhere around 4000th place in the world (per circa 700-800 thousands registered players) and after 2 or 3 week absence I dropped to 40000 place... It's quite easy to jump 10000 places, since the lower player is the more points he gains for good positions, but climbing so high again is beyond my powers atm... Unless I would play 25 hours/day.

Unfortunately, TMNF has serious problems with servers stability. Of course its not game's problem, but servers' (mostly private and, judging by chat comments and banning rules, run by pretty childish people), but it is main reason why I dont play it as much as I used to.

Nevertheless, it's freeware of the year as I doubt anything can beat it on my private list.

500 MB download? Firefox tells me I got a half hour to download this on my DSL internet. Too bad I can't take better advantage of my gigabit Ethernet adapter right now!

Regardless, I got a feeling I'll be playing this for a while!

EDIT: Download crapped out just as it was finishing. Claimed it couldn't read from the source. Am re-trying now.

EDIT 2: It downloaded OK from another mirror. Will be setting up pretty quick now. But, it's after midnight, and I'm starting to feel tired.
