Board Styles
Is it possible for me to design a new Board Style? Currently there are only three different choices and I don't really like any of them. I'm having my one week lasting summer holiday now(and of course I got sick immediately), so I have some spare time now to do things like simple graphics.

I think you need to catch either Spaneks or Maz's attention on this. You have my permission though. And more styles is a good thing

nsn - Network status monitoring tool for linux
thongs-sniffer - network sniffing and traffic analyzing tool + ethernet packet crafter for linux (derived from nibbles)
nibbles - UDP print listener + something else

Any news on this? Maybe some cooperation with Ipsemet (did I remember that correctly?) would do wonders...
Also a link to something useful maybe:

I had some serious time troubles earlier and now I'm doing code in my full time job, so I'm not too interested in coding in my spare time too. Besides when something was updated on the main page, it didn't update on my style setting. (You can check the style and compare Subsilver's menuitems)
Doing a style needs A LOT of work. I though it would be only to set the colors and draw some images, but I noticed that changing the colors is not so simple. The same color might have totally different meaning on different page (this is kinda hard to explain). Also my style was supposed to have dark background, which meant that I had to draw several new pictures, because many have tiny white borders that look ugly on dark background. Etc.
In short: I gave up.
What comes to the styles, I would suggest that 'we' concentrate on one dominant style, which would be the default style and fully supported with some CWF-kinda feeling. Currently THE style is subsilver, but it's used in thousand other sites, so it's not so special.

Subsilver has the huge advantage of not being busy, obtrusive, outrageous, hard to look at, or any number of other negatively charged adjectives... ok, so maybe it's a little boring, but I'll take boring over all of the above. It's really, really hard to create something new if you're not a talented artist with an eye for these things. I think anyway.

I have switched to Subsilver as soon as this debate opened to try it out, and I must say that I agree. Spaneks style is more colorful and thus more interesting (design-wise) but it gets too busy.
I think a new style should be worked on with emphasis on the fact that this was the new default style as you say Sfault, and that is the primary objective at the moment.
If we make a standardized style with options of getting more options in a seperate page, then we can clean it up a great deal, while it should also be much easier to maintain for the different styles - as your problem showed is of value.
I got notice from Ipsemet that he would like to work on these things, so I am hoping this will become a reality in the near(er-ish) future. I am trying to appoint him as new Design-master.
