Broken Sword 2.5

Post by Pater Alf »

This one is a sequel to "Broken Sword" the popular point'n click adventure (at least it was very popular in germany).

The story:
"The last months were quite a blow of fate to George Stobbart. First he had to leave Nico for one year because of an important trip to the USA, then his beloved grandfather died of a cancerous growth. But that was not everything. When George receives a telegram from France one day he already has a foreboding of evil. The consigner is - Nicole Collard, Paris, France. His presentiment shall turn into cruel certainty: Nico is dead! "First my grandpa and now Nico?", George thinks and takes the first plane to Paris.

On his arrival: Rain, storm, like an appropriate divine answer to George's situation. In Nico's apartment the next shock: Nico is alive. Totally bewildered he tells her about the telegram but Nico seems not to be surprised. On the contrary, she asks George to leave the apartment. She does not seem to take delight in the unexpected reunion.

Still sorting his thoughts in the Cafe della Chandelle Verte - where everything began - George hears an alarming story about Nico from Andre Lobineau making the unpleasant thought germinate in him that the Neo-Templars could still exist..."

Graphics look very fine (they have the spirit of the original game) and there will be professional voice acting. A demo and some trailers are available at the official homepage. Believing the german FAQ release date will be sometime 2007/2008 (not a very exact date, but there won't be five more years of waiting)...

And there finally is a release date!!! "Broken Sword 2.5" will be out on on August 21st, 2008!!! :Yahoo:

Here's the full news from the official homepage:

"I close my eyes. Many thoughts had flashed across my mind. Some of them fade from my memory, others become sharper—like looking through a lens. Seven years later I reopen my eyes. Only one vision lasts all the others: the dream of Broken Sword 2.5!

Besides lots of prosperous days, many deadlocks had to be broken. Therefore I'm proud of this highly motivated and creative team, who created a successor to Broken Sword 2. And it corresponds exactly to the wishes of the team.

One question isn't answered yet. After months and years without an exact release date, we're going to announce it today: Broken Sword 2.5 will be available on August 21st, 2008. Then you will be able to download the full version for free from this website. It will come with German voices and English subtitles.

We're working on English voices, too. More information related on this will be available soon.

Count the remaining days with us!"

What Revolution Soft says to that? I'm curious. :HM:

As far as I know they had talks with Revolution Soft in an early stage of the development and they gave permission and even supported the project with some original content (like animations of the original sprites). Only thing they prohibited was a CD/DVD edition of the game (which was planned by the developers).

The announced release date (21th of August) for Broken Sword 2.5 has been canceled. The new release date will be sometime after the 27th of September (the date when the beta testing ends).
It seems there are still several errors and bugs in the game that have to be fixed and so a massive beta testing is necessary. So if you want to be among the first that can play the game and want to help the developers, you can apply for a job as a beta tester on their forum between the 1st of August and the 21st of August.

You can find more informations and a link to their forum here:

The game is finally out!!! :Yahoo:

I haven't tested it yet, but it looks amazing! I will open a thread about it in the freeware forum as soon as possible (probably tomorrow)...

It seems we are also a bit behind on world news. I will see if I can dig up something. Last time I did that it went rather well.
