Ok. Think police force and then some other force...Normally associated with flying jets and spacecrafts.... Mostly out of the atmosphere....

It was the only screenshot that looked anything close to what Chroelle posted...

Pfft. I'm not good with console games, since I didn't have any consoles for such a long time...

Try this one. It's almost 10 years old... don't let the German throw you off...

Uhm, yeah, this probably makes it clear what genre we're in, and since there's only a couple thousand games in that genre, you should be set. :) It debuted on the Saturn (?), but this screen is from the PS.

There are two "true" sequels to this title. Number two came on PS2, Dreamcast and (shock) for PC. Number three only on PS2. There's also a non-numbered sequel that basically has no story, only combat, and an online game that may not have made it beyond Japan.

It's a somewhat "big name" series, then.

I'm out of hints...

good guess...but no...I will give everyone enough of a hint to get it without even knowing what it was...this game was released by Nintendo, originally in japan under the name seiken dentsu (or something like that)...it was released for the SNES, and featured an ability to use up to 3-people to control each character in your party...the male hero, a boy whose father was a sword and mother was a tree...which made for excellent imagery and good campfire stories I'm sure...it had a sequel for SNES, which had really nothing to do with the original except for maybe a reference to the tree. In the sequel, it had two main characters, a boy and his transforming wolf.

But getting back to the game in question, you pick up two other heroes in your quest, a tomboy princess in pink hot pants, and a short red headed creature whose race is based on magic.

The menu consisted of a spinning circle of spells and items. Same thing for the equipment phase you simply go into the menu, a circle appears around your player and spins until you find your selection.

I think Seiken Densetsu is Sword of Mana. Which would make sense as that is also a Square Enix game, so the graphics are close to FFVI.
