It's easy to make great fps rivaling best of the best and pack it into small file. You just need to reduce colour pallette...to two colours (plus shades of grey of course and occasional blood stains). Result? Amazingly fluent animation, tons of maps and all this in 40Mb file.
It has been a good many months since I last played it, so I am finding it hard to desribe more than that. Game has amazing atmosphere. Way better than alot of other Doom clones.
Deserves a play for any FPS-fan and also every gamer with a desire for atmospheric game, because this game has got atmos....oh - I said that already...
Currently testing Life version 2.9 (With added second child)
(Beta testing in progress)
The game is good, the atmosphere is also good, but you can't see your shoots, only if it dash against the wall or enemy, without the Rocket Launcher, i think.Ok, the game is only 40mb small, why should they make for every weapon an own animation. The same if you wanna fight with your hands to box your enemy, you don't see your hands.
Sure, it's better than a lot of other Doom clones and the atmosphere is great with the background music etc., but allways the same procedure. And definitely you saw better enemies in Freeware Games, the KI etc.
But if your are a fan of FPS-Games, Doom and Quake you have to play this at least one time. And for casual gamer I would recommend that also.
I don't like it too much. Sure there is atmosphere, mainly because of the black/white graphics and the soundtrack.
But there are also many flaws: When you play a campaign the enemies always react the same way (AI isn't very high), you can't see where your shots are going while you can't see the enemies when they fire at you (because of their shots). Also the game crashed everytime when I wanted to return to the main menu.
I think there are much better freeware FPS games out there...
