This is another classic point'n'click adventure game, much in style of Lucasarts games (Indiana Jones series is the first which comes to mind). However it is not as good as games of the genre's masters it provides good dose of humour, colourful graphics, not always easy puzzles and great atmosphere. Big thanks to copyright holders for releasing this game as freeware!

HOW TO RUN FLIGHT OF THE AMAZON QUEEN USING SCUMMVM PROGRAM

1. Download latest ScummVM version for your operating system (choose from "0.8.2 Release binaries" list):

2. Install ScummVM on your computer

3. Scroll down screen to "extras" and download game version you want to play (various floppy and full CD versions are available)

4. Unzip the game to your chosen directory

5. Run ScummVM, a black-green window should appear

6. If you want to play the game in fullscreen mode choose "options" then "fullscreen mode" and then "ok"

7. Click "add game" (you should see the list of your drives) and navigate to find the path to your game folder (don't double click, click once to choose the directory and then press Enter)

8. When you'll find game directory proceed to it, you should see...nothing. But gamefiles are there, don't worry. Just click "choose" and game will be added.

9. Now you are ready to play the game, click "start" and enjoy!

10. Each next time you'll run ScummVM list of added games should appear in main program window

Commercial graphic adventure games gone freeware are simply A Great Thing(tm). Not the best B-movie game (since that's Maniac Mansion), but a very good one.

I never liked AQ too much, because of too easy (for me) puzzles, horribly sluggish pace and even more horrible mouse response. I think this game is so appreciated by people more for exotic settings, colourful graphics and Monkey Island feel than for real gameplay value. It's a fine game, but for me never was anything special.

That's strange, but maybe because I originally played it on Amiga (?) in a bygone age, I never experienced sluggishness or horrible mouse response?

Never played it on Amiga, played it on PC in various configurations - without DOSBox, with DOSBox, with ScummVM and mouse pointer always moved like old drunkard after one round too much. Not to mention walking speed of main character.

Must have been to fast PC?

Sounds like a PC specific problem - I had none of those issues when I tested to take screenshots.

Curiosity.

Unofficial German Amiga version of "Flight..." has been released.

Called "Flug der Amazon Queen", features dialogs taken from the German DOS version, but eliminates incorrect translations, typing errors as well as unsightly formulations of the DOS version and also almost all English texts in the pictures were changed to German.
