AGwak2: Darkside Adventures

Post by Pater Alf »

Bernie ("Cedric and the revolution", "a game with a kitty") has been quite busy at end of the year 2006 and released two new games. One of them is "Reactor 09" (a point'n click adventure), the other one is "AGwak2: Darkside Adventures" and it is kind of a sequel to " A game with a Kitty":

"No time for vacations when you're the Imp King's Arch-Chancellor, oh no! How about you go on a quest to find the king's girlfriend's lost crown instead? And shoot stars at stuff? And also save the world? And kick some koala butt along the way?

All this can now be experienced right after downloading a 15 MB big file. Wow!

The game file is a 7z SFX archive. Just in case you're wondering."

This game would be so much better with a few signs telling you that you can pick all kinds of stuff up. I passed several items because I thought they were power ups that required me to have some additional skill to use them. The controls are not responsive enough when in the air, and even worse when you have to throw items onto platforms above you. Also, it's a bad thing that pick up and shoot is assigned to the same key, because you waste ammo all the time, trying to pick up an item. To me, this one is just more frustrating than it's fun, sadly. But that doesn't mean that there isn't a decent platformer here!

Well I think Bernie did a great job again (not that I´d expected anything else)!

"AgwaK2: Darkside Adventures" starts quite easy, has a steady learning curve and some of the later levels are really tricky.
Level design is a bit confusing, because you can't unlock all secret rooms and reach all places the first time you visit a level, but have to return later when you found some new abilities (like fast running or wall jumps).

All in all "AgwaK2" is more complex than "A Game with a Kitty" and it seems more than a complete and professional game.
