I forgot to mention that on linux the game can be launched with desired resolution and on fulscreen mode with startupflags. For example:

warzone2100 --fullscreen --resolution 1280x800

This should be done only once, warzone will remember this configuration when you launch it next time :)

Done! Played the tutorial and the first mission so far and I have to say that it is really an excellent game. Lots of different units and structures you can build and even the AI of the computer enemies isn't as low as in many other games.

I have to stop posting now to return to the game...

I am at fourth(?) battle at the campaign. And I do like this. It seems I need to plan my strategy a bit, pure force seems to be a bad solution.. :/ But I bet you won't regret your download PA :)

You're right, I don't regret it at all!!!

You can clearly see that "Warzone 2100" was a commercial title some years ago and it doesn't have to hide behind other well known titles in the RTS genre.

Maybe we should collect some of the information in this thread in the top-post?
I downloaded it yesterday and plan to play it within the next few days. It seems it will take some time from me, so I wont dig into it today...

Dangnabbit. I'm stuck at the campaign! I played the beginning of the campaign in a wrong way, and now it seems to be impossible to get past the battle where objective is to build a fort base (while enemy brings continuously new troops..) I believe I should just restart from the beginning, and plan the future a bit more while playing through the easier stages... But the campaign mode in this game really does deserve name campaign. How you play at the beginning has huge impact on the later phase :) In case I didn't say it already: I do love this game :)

An amazing game, and clearly marking down why we decided to make CWF in the first place. No doubt this will be the featured game of November. So can we get an interview possibly. I will look into this...

The best part is clearly that it does not restart you after each "level". You get to keep what you made so far. I remember requesting this in a thread in here, so this is a GEM of GEMS in my book.

A new version of "Warzone 2100" is out.

New in version 2.0.10:

* General:
* Change: Exit screen looks a bit cleaner than before now
* Change: Add some more info to the POSIX exception handler (Used compiler, responsible distributor)

* Sound:
* Fix: Make sure that sound still works with libvorbis 1.1 (this got broken in 2.0.9)

* Graphics:
* Fix: Prevent AMD OpenGL driver (slow) software rendering fallback, introduced in 2.0.8 (bug #10486)

* Buildsystem:
* New: Distributors now should use --with-distributor="Some String" when configuring, so we can track back where the dump comes from

You can download the new files for Windows, Linux and Mac from our game info page:

I still own the original CDs because this is a RTS gem, even if we can play a single race only.
I always wanted (still nowadays) to play as the Nexus...

As far as I remember, this was one of the very first 3D RTS game ever.

I like the ability to use a single tank chassis for mounting various turrets on it (railguns, etc.) .
