THE ONE AND ONLY BUGS THREAD.

Post by Maz »

... And I have forgotten most of the things :D

So, let's add all new suggestions/bugs in this thread. I know there's one thread in Dev forum too, let it be there. Let's add new ones here though, since this one is visible for everyone.

Latest things I have done:
- Changed some wordings on the forums ;)
- added more informative 'stats page' for results.
-List of reviews accessible from top of the pages
-RandomGameVsGame voting
-small upgrades in game validation. (invisible)
-points
-ability to choose from 3 different ranking systems. (needs 1 more)
-bound rankings to points.
-game ratings in search page
-GH ranking explanation popups (in search and game info page).
-Added an email to validators when review is submitted.

Fixes:
-Fixed some random Game Vs Game bugs.
-Spanek's style - platform supported piccies.
-year 2007 bug (game adding, editing and searching)
-Fixed a bug in review validation system.

Next things in todo:
Interviews. (May be delayed, I have not yet got the answers from Jason. Actually, it seems he has not been on privateer forums lately... Perhaps he's having his vacations? )

RandomGameVsGame thingee:
=> Add ranking to be shown on agme info (and search?) pages.
.

Things to do in the future:
Improve automatic email to reviewer when review is validated.

(I know I did it a few days ago, I just remembered to edit this thread now :p )

This happened a while ago while I was entering forums:

DELETED due to possible security issues (MySQL error).

After a second things were ok again and I saw Maz being online, so I consider the problem explained. :)

Assuming nobody was online together with me (01:04 CET) and there was nobody since I was checking, there's still bug in game VS game feature. Adds 3 points instead of 1, sometimes I was allowed to vote for the pair I already voted (I was allowed to vote, but vote werent counted and there was only one option to remove the message screen - F5 - not the most convenient). It's also not possible to remove the voting dot :P - once you check one of boxes by mistake you must reload the page and new pair appears - old is gone.

I'm in the talking mood, unusual thing at this time. :)

Not necessarily a bug. ranking and amount of wins is not actually meant to be exactly same. Ranking for winner is increased by 1+amount of the games loser had won. Let's assume wing commander privateer has won 25 games, and then you'll get pair wesnoth - privateer. You vote for wesnoth => wesnoth gets +26 ranking.
, sometimes I was allowed to vote for the pair I already voted (I was allowed to vote, but vote werent counted and there was only one option to remove the message screen - F5 - not the most convenient).
This sounds like a bug. Are you sure you were not logged off before voting? In that case it is possible... What comes to returning from errorpage, errorpage is unfinished. I believe I'll change dublicate votes to be silently ignored.
It's also not possible to remove the voting dot :P - once you check one of boxes by mistake you must reload the page and new pair appears - old is gone.
Really? What browser do you use? If you select one game, and then click on other game's radio button (box), doesn't the selection change? O_o If that's the case, then I should indeed take some correcting actions...

Good, I like it when you're in the talking mood :) Forums with no talk is... well, not too appealing :D

I am sure.

I am confronted with the pair I already voted for, I check one of boxes, blank page appears with "sorry, you hav already voted blahblahsomethingIdontremember". I think played matches ;) should be eliminated from contest somehow.

I use FF atm. I can CHANGE the vote, i cant UNCHECK the box.

Well, may I ask what's the point with unchecking the box? O_o I assume there's no much point in casting empty vote, this is not politics :p

mm.. So did I understand it correctly, sometimes you were able to vote for same game pair, and sometimes weren't?

I am always able to vote, but if I vote for the same pair "user already voted" message appears.

As for empty votes I usually casted empty vote since I dont know some of games. If I hav to choose between Brain Hotel and Street Bike Fury f.e. I cast empty vote, first because I cant choose, second because there's no way to pass this choice except casting empty vote (?).

Aaa... User already voted msg was a temp solution. It actually prevented the vote to be updated in database. Message is now demolished, and dublicate votes are silently ignored.

What comes to 'casting empty vote' technicue... How about just refreshing the page? :D

(And I just did some changes to the system, so do not worry if you saw two 'cast vote' buttons, that was not due to excessive alcohol usage, but due to a slight bug in my previous upgrade :D

I wanted to know... It seems the forum has gotten wider again. IS there a reason to this... I have to scroll sideways now again to get full forum post. A bit weird. I am thinking it might have something to do with the number of links in the top-"streamer". MAybe we can go upper and lower line to solve this...?
I am thinking that we could divide the links into personal and overall links.
Profile, log-in, messages, bookmarks and maybe preferences could be lower line and the list all games, new posts, faq, search forums etc. could be upper line.

What is your screen resolution? I have not noticed that... (and do you use spanek's style?) It could be the links, although I doubt that.. Perhaps I messed with the top images on Spanek's style while breaking and fixing it the otherday.. Perhaps you could switch to MazStyle for a second, and see if it is scrollable too ?

It is...

Any idea... I am very sure it wasn't scrollable a couple of weeks ago.

I think you are right. As far as I remember the problem (ok, it´s not really a problem...) first occured when Maz added the "List all Reviews" link...

And if you want to know: I´m using the "Subsilver Shadow" style and resolution is 1024x768.

IT is definently closer. We still need 1½ cm or so. I like the new wording though :D
