What I like about Katrina's face pic is that I have four emotions to choose from - that's pretty much why I chose those. But if I can't get them to look a little cleaner, I may substitute the old "still" pic instead - only that's going to be a major revision. I'm thinking about it for now, because I completely agree that the mismatch is a little jarring.

Baaa!

I wished to test this, but it seems the first link is dead. And megauploads tells me I have just downloaded XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX bytes, and asks me kindly to wait for 300 minutes :| Any chance to upload that on CWF server Scyth?

Yes, if I haven't already. The file is there on MegaUpload though, just tested it.

And by the way, it's on hold during summer, but not forgotten. ;)

Look in the "Scythe" directory, I think the one in there is working.

I actually might have a guy who wants to do music for a game. He makes beats and whole segments. I think the adress to him is:
www.myspace.com/sustainproductions or something like that.

I tested running LoB on Linux with Wine. Othervice it worked well, but the 'task bar' from my Gnome desktop was overlapping some of the game screen - thus making it impossible to play the game. I believe there is a way to hide the 'taskbar', but I am too tired to look for it tonight... Anyways, after toying with the game a lil while, I can say it looks promising :)

Thumbs Up Sc!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, yeah, it needs tons of work, I know. :p But thanks for the support! I guess I really should do something before end of summer.

Oh, and I'll look/listen to that dude, Curlster. But I kinda want to have a slightly more finished game to present.

So, now that I have RPGMaker working again... yay! ...I'm thinking of going back to this, but on the other hand, maybe I should start over in RPGMaker VX when it comes out in February? I was also looking at RPGMaker XP after Tank prodded me... maybe I should go look for some custom images... yeah, I'll see what's out there.

LEt me know what you decide. I would love to playtest any new scenes. I can also see if I can get some music for the game when I get it under my skin again...

I've started drawing maps again in RM2K. I have by far the most custom graphics for that, plus the most experience (meaning I can pretty much make it do what I want). I need to draw 10-20 maps, that should help me get on with it...

I want to put in a character named Curly, but I haven't decided yet what he should look like, or exactly what his role should be. I'm thinking maybe he should be the guy who keeps track of your progress (I thought of making a sidequest counter, as in "you've completed X/Y sidequests"), but any better ideas?

Made good progress. I advanced the main game a little and drew three maps (exterior and interior) for the nearby town. I also made the little welcome to town routine (not a usual one either), and introduced two characters that I hope people will love to hate.

Sometimes you just need to tidy up. After cleaning up the apartment, I cleaned up LoB. I had ~100 character tile sets and even more face sets, but I was only using a fraction of those. So I cut and pasted everything that I was using and sorted through everything I had to pick the ones I wanted to use in the future.

After doing that, I changed Katrina's face graphics. It just wasn't working. Instead, I changed an existing face, coloring it a little differently, and voila, a brand new Katrina. Without emotions, sadly.

Why did this take all day? Because I had to go in and manually change every single character and face picture reference in the entire game (about, oh, a couple thousand instances)! It's better now, I trust. If I missed any, the game will not work, so I hope I didn't...

As I was starting to lay finishing touches on the first town in the game, I got to thinking... You spend a day's work drawing a map, a couple of days putting in people, events, advancing the plot and maybe another day testing if everything works the way it's supposed to and adding finishing touches. Most people will maybe spend 10 minutes time on that map. When you're aiming for a 20-40 hour game that adds up to... yeesh!

Progress report: 1.2%?

Finished up the first town - it took a little longer than expected, mostly because I got sidetracked with modifying some character and item stats, but also because I doubled the number of events. Now I need to test it. This time it's fairly straightforward, so shouldn't be a problem. Except for all the errors that will have to be corrected, of course. ;) It's getting about time to do another dungeon, because there's a LOT of talking and plot development in that town!
