Show me your drawings
After discussing this a lot in the bar, I think we needed a place where people could show off their skills with a pencil or anything else that helps them draw (or paint).
My best drawings are at my workplace so they will have to wait until monday. I always draw girls in profile when I sit down and draw, and I always mess up the proportinons (I make a much bigger forehead than what fits the person.)
But the rest of you should feel free to show off. If ever there was a placeto in fact show off- this would be it!

Well it seems I have gotten rid of my drawings from work, so I sat down yesterday evening and spent half an hour doing some drawings. The first one is my classic drawing with a twist. I usually draw females from the side, and always with blond hair, so dark haired elf-male is a bit off, and also I know the issue with an elf-male and beard, but it was already annoying me that his eyes were so feminine, so when his lips turned out that way too...well...
The second one was a rushed attempt at making a cartoonish character, and from the front too... I am not that pleased with it. I also tried some different text on his chest to see how it worked. The message is good though

Nice pics Chroelle!
I was going to scan in a bunch of the surreal stuff I draw on my notes during meetings at work, but when I got out our spare scanner, I found out the hardware was faulty and would not feed paper.
So, it'll have to wait until I get some time and another scanner...

woke up early again today and after doing some cleaning and folding of laundry (among others there was a fitted sheet GRRRRRRR) I decided to sit down and draw some more. So here is my latest contribution. I still hate drawing hands and fingers!
I wanted to do something with more detail, and ended up doing this sketch of a soldier going out to war and his apprentice passing him his sword. When I was doen with the characters and the sword I decided that I wanted some background and ended up doing the very childish castle in the back. Then it still lacked something and I did some mountains just for filler.
I really got my appetite back for drawing...
Now it must be somebody elses turn.

quick question, is the servant the guy in the middle or one on the left?
Here's one of the doodles I did on a note in a meeting...my art tends to be either sci-fi or very surreal...

That is definently one for rnightmares
Well the servant was supposed to be the guy on the right.
I might be getting some more drawing done in the next few days as I have some time in the morning before I have to go to work

that's what I thought, I just wasn't going to make a suggestion unless I knew for sure. But, you may want to use levels here...Sort of raise the hero higher than the apprentice...like draw the apprentice giving the hero the sword while the hero is on a horse (drawing horses is hardChroelle wrote:

Here's another that I did on the back of the same meeting notes...there's some issues with the wings, I think I drew one relatively the way I wanted and added the other sometime after...

Funny that you mention the thing about levels. I did think of it, but actually dropped the horse due to
.
I also consider the hero being higher up, but I actually wanted focus on the servant. But I do think I need to sit down and consider the compositions of my drawings before putting pen to paper. I always just go with the flow...

Here's a hand'n finger pic. I guess I've drawn it about five years ago. I usually draw some simple things and never finish them. I don't like to draw backrounds and I have some trouble drawing realistic positions. Usually all my character just stand and pose. Don't draw too much these days. Don't know why.Chroelle wrote:I still hate drawing hands and fingers!
This image was in the corner of the paper so that's why it's been cut from the top and right. Seeing it much bigger than what the original was, it looks quite crap.

BTW: Very nice cannon action above by Pager...

Indeed it is a very nice fire effect you got going Pager. I dont think this looks crap, what you did SFault. I think it looks cool.
I have been considering doing some attempts at a webcomic, where the background is a blur - actually I plan to take a photo of the kind of background I want and then blur it and put the chars in the front. I dont know how that will work, but I have seen it being good.
Will post it here if I make an attempt.

which isn't so bad...once again, just a suggestion. Remember, you can always focus more on the apprentice by showing more of him, and positioning him relatively centre.Chroelle wrote: But I do think I need to sit down and consider the compositions of my drawings before putting pen to paper. @Sfault: seriously, that is wicked cool...that will definitely give me nightmares for a few weeks...

Here is a little boredom-induced drawing. The biker idea was due to me watching American Chopper before doing the drawing. I have no interest in choppers, which might shine through if you look at how I put together my bike....
Too bad I didn't go over the whole thing once more with a pencil. A lot of detail is lost in a relatively bad scan.

For ages I have tried to colorize my pictures. Finally I think I got how to do it. If you have some good image and you want it in colors, I might help you if I find enough time to do it.

BTW: I noticed that Chrølle is(/was) looking for a children's book illustrator. What's that all about? I could draw something if you like to.

I am very definetly looking for a childrens book illustrator yes. I need a front figure which is a little girl, and her escapades go throughout her house, garden and in general the world, but if you want to do some sketches that I can look at we can maybe figure something out.
I can tell you the first plot in a PM ifyou want, and I can mayb e do a rough sketch of how I picture the girl, or maybe provide you with a picture of the girl I got inspiration from?
Have you got anything to show in this thread? I would love to see some of your drawings, and also it would be cool if you could try colorizing the first full drawing (Scan003) I entered in here. It would be fun to see it colorized. Tell me if I start ranting ok...because this one time at bandcamp...

Most of the stuff I have drawn might not be suitable for a children's book (see above). If you make a sketch out of the main character, I'll try to draw it some time. There are few problems. First, I don't have too much spare time, so I wouldn't like to draw many images. Also I have some difficulties to get the characters look like about the same in different images(and positions). And I'm not too keen to draw backgrounds. But I'll try, I'll promise.
(I have promised to draw a cartoon to my friend based on his script. It's only 5 images long and during the past two years I have made only two sketches. I think I'll do that first.)

Funny enough your colorized image didn't load when I replied the last time, so I didn't notice it. It loaded up just now and it looks amazing. Very well done!
Only thing I can say is that the illustrator job would of course be a paid job if the books generate income. I would propably go into an agreement with whomever I use as an illustrator that we share profits in some agreed percentage like 40-60 or 50-50.
But the books aren't going into print just yet, so no rush if you want to illustrate.
