Super Stun-N-Run

Post by eMTe »

Super Stun-N-Run is a platformer, where you guide an explorer named Parker who has travel to an island and save poor hapless animals trapped in cages.

Your stun gun can be used to render dangerous creatures harmless for a short moment. Most missions involve collecting keys to unlock cages before time runs out. Progress can be saved between stages.

I am not too excited about this game. It annoys me that the game feels so repititive, and that it ended up playing really buggy on my pc. I had several times where it lagged and it always ended up with my character sprinting to one side of the screen whenever it finally caught up again. And I ended up quitting when my cahracter all of a sudden disappered off the screen and the game continued, and I could see my stun-meter dropping whenever I fired my weapon...

I LOVE artwork like this.
Nice and pixelly, but also in that "Just right" zone where everything starts to become so much better looking than it's pixels.

I can't draw! I suck at it. If I attempted to draw a giraffe, I'd look at it's point, copy where the points are, plot the points, and end up with a hippo. My hand-eye co-ordination is, frankly, despicable. So I'm always impressed when I see artwork that's obviously had a little care and attention given to it, especially when it's nice and pixelly, too!
Great work.

Although, I agree about the engine, it's a bit quirky!

Technically the game works fine for me, but I don't like it that much. It isn't bad, but it isn't very special as well. There are some nice ideas, like the apes you have to get up the vines to throw down keys, but the execution isn't always good. It requires to much repetitive firing (with bad aiming and a dropping stun-meter far to often) to be real fun.

Of course there are also nice things about "Super Stun-N-Run". For example the well made intro, the retro look and the overall design, the save function, the interesting bonus levels and the boss fights. But after all it is just an average platform game.
