After entering ancient castle door game crashed and following message emerged:

"cannot open file chara14"

Or something like that.

First comments:

-I dont think graphics is ugly. I would rather call it minimalistic. Suits medieval theme. At least it's different than in usual games.
-lots of objects to interact. This is another difference. This is actually first rpgm game I see with such amount of possible object interactions. That's good, but may also turn against you, I'll write more about it later.
-you dont mix various themes what irritates me most in rpgm games. Tolkien, Grimm fables, gins - all these are usually used in one game and create not too tasty amalgam. Looks like your game is going to be set in medieval times, but...Marty has turban on his head...?
-in Draak's (am I correct?) house bookshelf in right top corner slightly sticks out of the screen. Or is it done on purpose? :P
-main character moves a bit too fast on map screen. But that's my personal opinion.
-game begins with...test. 90% of rpgm games begin with some kind of test... CLICHE WARNING!

Strange feeling to play game designed by fellow forum member... Adds a bit adrenaline to gameplay. So far (=before the crash) it looks like a very decent game with unique approach limited by game engine of course.

ACK! Did I forget chara14? Wait... chara14? Did I use that? Of course! It's Sirena! Keep your save file (if you have one - you can save on world map), I'll fix it. For now, you can get chara14 here. Just put it in CharSet directory. I'll upload the fixed version later. Hopefully that's the only missing file.

Some of the graphics are a little ugly. Most are not that bad, but that's because I picked good tile sets.

I have a rather specific fantasy medieval theme in mind and intend to stick with it. Marty's originally not from the continent this game takes place on. (Quick fix or planned? :p )

The heavy object interaction is very much on purpose. If people don't like that, they won't like the game. But it's pretty much optional. (Small spoiler: Did you figure out that it might even be smart to examine some things more than once?)

I know about the bookcase. There's also a potted plant that sits in a wall. I'm trying to figure out whether to erase them or try something else. I know it looks weird.

I chose fast movement, because it annoys me when characters move at a crawl, but it's easily adjustible if more people think it's too fast.

I'm not going to avoid all clichés. ;) Live with the test, it's to learn the ropes, once you get it to work that is.

I'm glad you find it a unique approach thus far - then I haven't done all wrong. :D

I got an error when trying to run the game, saying I lacked something. "Install RTPe.exe" I am currently finding the file so I can download it...
Any idea what this is?
It seems it is part of the RPGmaker program but why would it need that to play the game... I mean you dont need to download the toolbox to play a game do you?

Ok. Now I have gone through two installations and none succesfull. None in English either :D

Could you maybe point me to somewhere where I can get the files I need....?
I do however think we need the rpgmaker program placed in the downloadssection as a downloadable tool. It seems you need it to be able to play any rpgmaker games.. :D Oh there is no limits to the things I do not know

Ok, so please submit me the files needed, and I will place them as downloads on the site once we go at adding to the databases.

Same here! It would be nice if someone could tell us what to do. I don´t think you really need the RPGmaker tool on your computer to run games made with it. I have played several RPGmaker games before (for example "Ahriman´s Prophecy" or "Laxius Power") and they all worked fine...

And I am gonna go for a triple post here...

I now remembered why I have some problems with this. There is a legal matter regarding RPGMAKER. So of course I cannot just put it on the downloadspage...

Hm... Ok lets say I din't find anything and there might be having issues with playing the game, but might guess my way to some feedback later on

I am guessing the downloads were pretty huge right?
I have read that you should have at least some specific files located on your PC before you can play RPGMAKER games. So far I thought I might have found something, but still nothing works.

It seems I am in need of help. I still get the same error I got at first...

My bad. I probably forgot to check "include RPGMaker files" when I repacked it. To be fixed when I get home from work at around sevenish, Danish time.

Don't put RPGMaker tools anywhere, the common internet version is a very "questionable" translation of original Japanese tool.

At some point the demo is going to work for all of us.

Exactly my point why I cannot make it for download...

The game needs a few files to play if you don't have RPGMaker installed, but not the entire RPGMaker tools. It is legal to distribute these files along with your game, for the purpose of running it.

RPGMaker isn't a free download, games made with RPGMaker can be, if the author desires.

Lest you think I'm some bumbling fool who doesn't test his stuff: If you have RPGMaker installed it is "intelligent" enough to check if the files are located there, if they aren't found with your game. That makes testing for missing files next to impossible, unless I uninstall RPGMaker in between tests (not very likely)...

Would one of you test the version on our ftp? It's 14MB and I trust it should work.

Well I just played the demo from the FTP, and once I entered the staircase the game crashed with an error asying something like "....treasure...". Sorry I didn't read more specifically but it happened while I was on the phone so my concentration was elsewhere...
Otherwise I think there are some really cool features.. I like the riddles :D
I also like that you are at it so soon after starting the game. I do however think that Drax and the main character (how can I forget her name so fast...) has very different outlooks, so if you could find a picture that was more in teh same style as her it could be cool, but that is just nitpicking or "fly-screwing". :D Danglish.

*sigh* Treasure... treasure... must be a treasure chest picture missing... I need to know the name of the file, so do me a favor and try it again - keep your save file, it's fixed by adding yet another file.

Ohh, you tried your hand at the riddles. Did you feel they made sense?
Chroelle wrote:I also like that you are at it so soon after starting the game.
Sorry, "at" what?
Chroelle wrote:I do however think that Drax and the main character (how can I forget her name so fast...) has very different outlooks
You're talking about the face graphics or the character sprites? I'm assuming the faces. I'm aware of that, and it's Katrina's (!) face that's out of style with the rest, which is why I'm talking about trying to clean her face files up a bit in Paint Shop. I'm just not sure I have the skills for it.

Or are you saying you feel they should look more alike in their appearances or something? (slightly confused about the word "outlooks")

Just go with Danglish whenever I confuse you. Outlook = udseende...

Well, you are right that it is the small pics of the persons where I think Katrina sticks out.

Regarding "at it" (Your question) I like that you are facing action-sequences within the first 15 minutes of gameplay. I feel so many other RPG's have you talking to people for so long that you loose interest. I like the way this game starts out. Really funny start-up sequence with the celebration.
Regarding the riddles. I felt the made sense, until the last one. They were hard enough so I had to think about them, but easy enough to figure out the solution. You didn't get stumped right away.

Regarding Treasure. (The filename is simply treasure.) It said something about "Cannot find filename Treasure or something. Sorry too late to look into it now, but if it is a major problem please say so and I will look into it tomorrow...

The last "riddle" was supposed to be cruel. But I wouldn't sweat it if you got it wrong - maybe that will lead to something interesting too... ;)

No, no, the picture is called "treasure" - I get it, thanks! That's all I needed to know. Temporary Fix: Put the attached picture in "CharSet" folder. That should work.
