Well here's the thing...the game I would like to see as Freeware was never actually released, Origin's Bioforge Plus, according to the last reports I had seen it was almost complete, but development was cancelled due to poor sales\lack of interest for Bioforge.
I would like to get the freeware rights for that game...finish it (so it can run in windows not just MS-DOS, perhaps strengthen the graphics and further the gameplay) and post it as freeware.
I think I'll look into this...
[EDIT] My bad, apparently Bioforge Plus was axed due to Origin downsizing. Once they eliminated Brute Force Productions from their organization.

Nope, I was just correcting myself.
But here's some more info I got...
BioForge was owned by Origin, which was bought out by Electronic Arts, which keeps Origin alive to support Ultima Online and nothing else.
So technically, they would be the best place to look for licensing info and rights and stuff...But if that fails, I found an e-mail for Ken Demarest, the designer of the original BioForge and a place to reach one of the managers that worked on BioForge, BioForge 2 and BioForge Plus...but those are last resorts if speaking with EA fails...or comes up with nothing...
Only problem is, I'm at work right now and can not visit EA's website, so I'll need to wait until later before I can go there to search for info...

Sorry, I got nowhere with this.
As from the information I looked at into this, apparently the project was in some really early stages. They took what was suppoed to be the sequel but they decided to release it as the plus version.
I think someone would have an easier time getting their hands on this if they got a job with EA, and infiltrated from the inside.

Re: Bioforge Plus
I posted this video on 2007: "BioForge (Origin) - The Best PC Game Of All Time" and it was viewed 40000 times.
I'm sure Bioforge 2 is a great project and someone, indie or not, will make money (or at least, will give much much pleasure for all Bioforge fans out there).
Hope someone do this sequel and Starflight 3.
