Post by Maz »

So I decided to get bed early. Perhaps right after watching the James Bond from Tv...

However after JB, I just decided to do last checking about how things were going in here... And suddenly I noticed I was wditing the main site :|

Now it's 01.30 AM, and I know tomorrow will be like hell.. But at least theres one buggy item more on frontapge :)

As usual, report any bugs etc to me. Thx.

It's all in the mind! :p

No seriously now, you should get some rest. Things are more easy to be done with a clear and rested mind...

You must watch Bond movies more often. Great job! :Bearhug:

Bugs... This is no bug, but...I noticed that Flight of The Amazon Queen is rated 2/6. So it's either faulty description, because game must be rated at least 4 or it was uploaded before gh squad started its work. In this second case there's still a problem, because rating is dramatically low in comparison to f.e. Case of The Crabs (5/6). I would understand it if it was rated 4, but 2...?

edit: checked. AQ was rated 4.666. So it is a faulty description or I had too less sleep too and dont understand something. :)

second edit: Dink Smallwood, crew rating: 0/6. True rating: 4.

I know this doesnt refer to spotlight feature...or does it?

Spotlight should show same rating as the game info page. But ratings are not straight the same as GH votes on site.

Following GH votes will get the game to the site:

4
5
6

And possible rating on site is:
0
1
2
3
4
5
6
.
So rates on site are (should be) scaled as shown in this post:
http://curlysworldoffreeware.com/viewtopic.php?t=585

so GH votes average from 4 to 4.66 causes rating on site to be 2. When we keep on mind that only Quality Games end up to this site, rating 2 is not a bad :)

Whether the case of the Cratbs rating is correct or not, I do not know.

(to get 5 on site, GH votes average should be between 5.66 and 6 )

Anyways, there MAY be bugs on ratings/ gameinfos since those have not been properly checked AFAIK.

Hey...dont you trust me.....?
Thats ok I hardly trust myself either...

I think we should have a link called something like "How come this game is rated so low and you said you only had quality", that leads to a page that explains all. I have thought about this before but it always slipped my mind before I got anything done about it... Now it is written, so I will not need to remember it anymore :D

Honestly, I think you did more than a good job so far. Great work with the main site. Gotta love it.

Whoops. Now I remember. I was almost sure Ive read about this scale somewhere someday.

It's not the matter of trust. I just wanted to be sure that everything's ok with descriptions. Im leaving my personal opinions aside.

I'm not nasty, my English is nasty. :(

Personal opinions and devilish smilie apply to ratings not Chrolle. I.e. I hav my personal opinions about some games and sometimes I :Wallbang: when I see the final rating... I'm just a human...

But I'm a good boy, really.

I'm greatly opposed to the rating 0/6. It implies that the game could not possibly be any worse.

I agree with that and maybe we can change it in an easy way. Let´s give a game that is accepted by the game hunters 5 basic points. This would change our rating sytem so that there would be a maximum of 10 points possible (ift the game is accepted with an average of 6). This would mean a game accepted with an average of 4 by the game hunters would get 5 points on info page, an average of 4,6 would get 6 points, average of 5 would get 7 points and so on...

Doing it that way all our games would have at least 5/10 on the game info page and the start page.

Well if it is easily done then I think it might be a good idea. And also it can be explained to members still that they will not find a game with below 5/10 on CWF...
This also means that it will be more presentable for developers to get their game here. Actually we should have a little banner that we could send out to developers. Something like: Game Hosted on CWF. This would be similar to a good score on another site.
I think it could be cool, and also a good way to advertise ourselves....

Added that suggestion to the bugtracker. Hoping for further discussion...
