Sandbox of God

Post by Chroelle »

From developers site:

The Sandbox of god is a puzzle at heart, where every decision you make affects your outcome in the end.

For instance: I can use each godly power only once. So say I use the rain function. Then I make a comet hit the earth. The ground, being mushy, allows the comet to get stuck in the ground and become a mountain.

BUT if I use the comet function first, the comet will leave a big crator. THEN by using a rain function, I can fill the hole with water, making a lake.

This is only the tip of the iceburg, folks. Heavily inspired by GROW, it has taken off like wildfire and is one of the most popular games we've done to date.

It's amazing how this game continues to be entertaining. I'm down to needing four hard objectives for a full completion. I'll bet you get all four simultaneously, if only I can figure it out... I seem to end up with a nuclear war on my hands every time. ;)

I had a hard time getting anywhere in this game. Could you maybe describe how you play it Scythe?

How to play the game? Try things out, of course! But these are some "simple" things to consider:

- Trees. Plant them, water them, then use wind to spread seeds at the end of an era, so you can water them at the beginning of the next one and get more trees. But remember that rabbits can eat them when they're small. That's the way to get trees, which can be used for settlements.

- The meteor. This one is very important for the rest of your game! Remember you can put it in soft ground, normal ground or simply destroy it against hard ground (depending on whether you let it rain or heated things up before tossing it). What you do opens up possiblities to get the rock dwellings -> castle, the crater with/without a lake or the volcano -> volcano town.

- The rabbits will only survive if you put in a chasm (earthquake, but not in soft ground!) or make sure that man has all the water he needs. This also tells you how to let man destroy the rabbits early on. ;) (It gets harder later.)

- Granting prayers for man is sometimes good for IQ and his survival skills, sometimes bad. It's not always a bad thing to let them figure out things on their own and develop some science. For rabbits, they'll always get IQ through prayers.

- Remember to read your own Code of Laws if you grant it to man!

- Sometimes it's great to be bad! Ending your game with a Rank of 10 is actually not that easy. Now, Rank 9 is easy to get. ;)

Happy news for all of you who liked "The Sandbox of God". Mr. Chubigans plans to do a remake of his own game. And there is a chance that it could be released this year...
