Oh...That is so cool. I have a lot of great ideas on how to use that on my PC. Wait for screenshots.

Ok. Tried it and it failed. What is wrong with this:

ICONAREA_IMAGE=Filename;"cwf1.PNG"
ICONAREA_TEXT=hexadecimal text color;"0x00000000"
I propably screwed something up...or misunderstood.

Re: The little Inn by the wayside
Not at all. Somehow the system didn't register the the ini file as something to use on the folder when you create it manually.
Try right clicking the folder and select properties (egenskaber), select the tab customize (tilpas), click change icon (skift ikon), and select any icon.
If you do that to a newly created folder, windows will automatically make a desktop.ini file where the information to use that icon is stored, and register that file on that folder.
But now that it sees that there is already a desktop.ini file, it will not replace it, but just add those lines about what icon to use in it, and set it as a system file. Then it will also disappear, and you will only be able to see it, if you've selected to show system and hidden folders in the windows explorer folder settings.
Edit: btw. you could also just use this program instead http://www.sodabush.com/windowpaper/index.php
But that program uses absolute paths when defining the image in desktop.ini, so technically if you move the image it can't find it anymore and you have to select it again.
The difference between absolute and relative paths when defining the image in desktop.ini:
Absolute path example: "C:\Folder\image.jpg"
Relative path example: "image.jpg" (image in the same folder as the one you wan't it as background)
or: "subfolder\image.jpg" (image in a subfolder, still relative to the folder which the desktop.ini file is in.)
That's why i make them manually with relative filepaths, and place the image in the same folder. So i can move the folder without the link being broken.
Edit 2: Actually that program does allow you to make relative filepaths, if you just delete the path of it and leave the filename there.

Re: The little Inn by the wayside
Is it only working in specific windows OS numbers or something, because I tried doing the correction (didn't download the program) and nothing happened.

Re: The little Inn by the wayside
Got it working with the Sodabush program, but still all my backgrounds turn black and gets tiles all over... I wonder if you can adjust that in the program somehow that I cannot seem to see.
It appeared that the problem I had before might have been due to me using a .PNG file. Sodabush only works with .bmp, .jpg and .gif.

Re: The little Inn by the wayside
I've never gotten a tiled black background (shouldn't be able to see it's tiled when it's completely black?) in the folders, so i don't know why that is. Screenshot?
And i did use a jpg or bmp so that could be the thing.

Re: The little Inn by the wayside
Oh its not tiled black. I used pictures with tranparency, and they turned black in the background, and got tiled all over the place.
I guess it doesn't handle transparency very well.

Re: The little Inn by the wayside
Okay. No i don't think Windows Explorer is advanced enough to implement transparency in the background pictures. But when there is nothing but white behind, then transparency would be the same as increasing brightness i think.

I do remember we had a thread on this subject in OG, but I dont have time now to check thoroughly if it is a joke or a long-established wikipedia entry.

Well it is a fighting matter. In my family we have very different opinions, and we can fight over it, because either side cannot see the points of the others. I am an "over-man" myself.

Re: The little Inn by the wayside
Oh and btw.
This is my folder for games I need to validate for CWF. I am still searching for a better picture though. It looks a lot better with the tiled setting than the Thumbnails setting for the folder.

Re: The little Inn by the wayside
Damned. Its on MAC right?
But very nice indeed....
I was thinking of doing screenshots for all the freeware games I play and then place it on the folderbackgorund so I could easily remember which game it was.

Yep, technically it's just cleverly set background tile, by Boxer, the DosBox for Mac.Chroelle wrote:Damned. Its on MAC right?

Have you seen today's Google Doodle? Fun! And slightly steampunkish, what I love the most.

I normally don't use Google, but thanks to you I looked at it. Fun thing and nice that they did something for Jules Verne's birthday.

Did you try and control it by use of the arrow keys? It was pretty neat.

Re: The little Inn by the wayside
I seem to have missed it.
Are you talking about this one? Maybe it's just me, but when I see that picture, it reminds me of this song.
And for Pater Alf, I thought you might like to know that I achieved one of those supposedly impossible Diamond badges from DoomRL. Muahaha! (Yes, I play that game entirely too much)
