In Danish it is called something....hunden. In English it is named after the place where it lives.... And ín the English versions it has no name, as I said....
Need more hints?

Ok, the comic is called Fæhunden in Danish. That means something like "stupiddog". But the name in English of this cartoon/comic is Footrot Flats.

Somebody else please take the turn as I seem to be killing the thread.

Ok. I have tried to find something via Google and so on, but there is so much D&D related stuff out there, that I couldn't find anything. So I am going with D&D 2.

So my answer was correct. This was taken from IMDB:

But I just googled it anyway...

About the new cartoon: It seems familiar to me, but I can't remember what it is right now. Will have to think about it...
