The movie is British, aye, but the director was Italian and the movie falls rather into broadely meant "mystery" genre.

A movie with both Karloff and Bela Lugosi cannot be that way off.

Well, my last hint is. The theme of the movie is, accidentally, strongly related to our recent talk in Inn: people hiding and bearly visible on the photo and Pager's talk about heist. The very center of the photo in this thread is actually what this movie is really about.

That's why I dislike obvious "puzzles" and prefer to post rpg-like cryptic ones.
Everybody knows Dustin Hoffman and Gene Hackman = it's no puzzle.

Still, everybody gets a shot if there are at least some slightly obvious elements involved, rather than complete puzzlement.
Incidentally, I've never heard of Blowup either.
