We drank too much champagne and played Guitar Hero World Tour all night. Try singing songs you don't know... in Spanish... Champagne makes it easier.

How much champagne one must drink to get drunk!?

I dont know, because my drunkenness state was usually a result of mixing champagne, wine, vodka and beer. But champagne only? :D

There may have been copious amounts of wine before the champagne...

Sounds fun! Yo hablo no Espanol (or something).

PA, I will try to see if I can fit some hours in too, since my schedule should clear up now too, but dont hold me up on it, because I tend to run from my word in here... Sorry. :(

I plan to beat Pater in activity this year. Bad beginning is nothing. Man is recognized for how he ends, not how he starts. :D

Submissions, validations, news, adding games, being active on forums, checking status/sending mails and having fun in the meantime. I can!!!

One of my (Few) New Years' Resolutions, was to be more active here, too. So far I've downloaded two games, and voted on one of them. It's a good start!

If I'm not too curious... What prevented you from being more active til now, mate? :)

I'm asking of site-related things, not lack of time or any other rl-related things. :D

Nothing site-related kept me from being active.

More of what did keep me, was girlfriend, computers, and working to get a shop so I am not working out of my home. I had a temporary location, but lost it quicker than I thought, and now have a permanent location.

So with 'set' working hours, I can dedicate evenings to other things aside from computer building. My railway can finally be finished, and I can play PC games again!

Good to hear of you guys' new years resolutions. Maybe I should make mine more activity in here as well...
I actually didn't make one because I feel I did the things I NEEDED to do, but maybe I should make a resolution about the things I WANTED to do - not that there were things I needed to do I didn't want.
I stopped smoking, I started running and I ran the Eremitage-run which made me think about running a half-marathon, but that depends on how my running turns out this year.
This year is also the year I am going to be married in, so I think that I might have more than enough in my head until that happens. :)

But I think my new years resolution will be: Becoming more active in doing the things needed to get CWF running even better. That way I can broaden it out as fits.

Today I got some good news and some bad news. Bad news is that two of my closest colleagues that have recently restored my faith in getting our woodshop (at work) up and running again is both stopping within a month once again leaving me with the responsibility of getting it running... And keeping it that way. And that is pretty hard...

The good news is that one of them is leaving among other things to concentrate on his other job as a handball coach, and that club is currently looking for someone to make them a new website, and he would put in a good word for me... And his word goes along way in the club. He has been voted one of the best youth coaches in Denmark, so the club is pretty happy to have him. And the even better news is that they might need me to run the site for them, so I can keep making money on my design if I get a function as their webmaster - which is propably demanding a couple of hours every month but the income generated is of a very high standard... I already have a function like that with a kennel, and that makes me 250 kroner a month for 10 minutes work a month. Its not much, but it is a trip to the grocerystore for that money, and I make around 150 or so an hour at my other work (before tax), so this one is even better paying. :)
But the handball club is playing in the highest or second highest league in Denmark so it would be a pretty big deal to get going, and the money could very well be more than a little good.

So if this succeeds I am paying out everyones tabs here at the little inn by the wayside :)

Oh and on that note - I paid the subscription for the webhotel (the space this site is on) yesterday so we are good to go for another year.

Does this mean I can keep running up my tab?

Barkeep! Give me a whole keg!

But seriously, Chroelle, congrats on the pending good news! Hope all works out well for you!

A woodshop sounds fun to work in anyway!

Good luck C!!

Damn. Just a few days ago I dragged my desktop from my sons room (where I could not really use it at the evenings) to the lobby at upstairs. I upgraded the fedora to version 10, and restarted writing the foreverlasting MazPong game. And playing nexuiz.

After the upgrade, nexuiz started generating odd blackouts, the screen went black, and even killing X did not work, (with ctrl+alt+backspace).

I assumed there was some problems with the graphics driver. So I inspected the matter, and noted that gflrx driver was not there. Some googling revealed that there were no official ATI radeon support for fedora 10 yet. Some more inspecting revealed that the driver had been succesfully installed from some development repos... So I did as instructed, and ...

Well, after changes my comp did not boot anymore. After searching for boot record, I did not get the grub menu, just a four letters saying GRUB. No keys except ctrl+alt+del worked. So I assumed I had messed the grub.conf somehow (I needed to add some kernel params in there).

Damn I thought. I'll try rescue mode start with DVD, so I can edit the grub.conf.

And... The system does not start even with the DVD anymore. It freezes in different phases of startup scenario, but every time it does freeze. So I guess I do have some HW failure... Any good guesses?

My guess is RAM. With my XP CD, if there is a RAM fault, it will often randomly freeze or claim a file cannot be copied.

Plus, faulty RAM can corrupt files on the hard drive.

Just a (somewhat) educated guess.

I'd imagine that if you're using a graphical installer that it might once again be the graphics driver thingie. If not, then it really can't be anything else but RAM. Memtest might clear that up fo r you?

ookayy.. Just an update to comp situation...

I digged deeper to my cd/dvd archives, and found an oldish knoppix live CD. I hit it in, and everything ran smoothly. Knoppix CD also included memcheck86+, and I ran it for a lil while - no errors. So I guess I might have:

2 corrupted fedora installation dvds.
1 corrupted mbr, or a bios problem...

At least all the infos I can find about grup freezing at startup just displaying letters GRUB, leave only option to be that for some reason grub cannot proceed to stage2, Eg. it does not manage to find the grub binary from hdd. Possible reasons given by internet ppl seem to all point to direction where GRUB gets wrong kind of drive information from BIoS.

However, boot from CD/DVD works, and grub also loads fine from one of my old HDDs, where is no os to boot left though. I guess I might be able to use that HDD to host GRUB, which then boots the kernel from another HDD, but... Well, maybe I should at first just try reinstalling grub. I just wish that I could do that without destroying my old grub configs.

I would do like regular windows users, and install whole os again - but I happen to have some *REALLY* important data on the HDD - and of course my big mistake was to use LVM... So mounting the hdd is just not so straightforward.

Damn.

I need another ciggie.

And a beer.

And poison - we happen to have mice on our house

Bad news... fglrx did not work :D

I dont really know if I should say congrats or doh to that...:)

I have this afternoon to myself. Tanja is taking Anna to one of her friends and staying there until tonight, so I am trying to figure out what exactly I want to do today. I washed the car this morning so I can in good conscience do something I want to do without worrying about if I should be doing something else.

So my first idea was to look in here and see what needs my attention - if anyone has a game that they really needs to be validated ASAP, then I can throw in my time there, but I think I will start with updating the Game Status thread and see if I can bring that up to speed.
I am here all day more or less I think so let me know if you stumble on something.
Have a great weekend everyone.
